Why exercise?

To build up your strength, to keep muscles toned, including your heart, to help the body rid itself of toxins, and to help get enough oxygen to the cells to fight the free radicals that cause illness and disease.

What type of exercise is right? You need to have good aerobic exercise at least three times a week. That's any activity that gets your heart pumping and keeps it pumping for 20 mintues. Running or jogging, an aerobics class, bike riding, dancing, anything that gets your heart rate to go up and stay up for 20 minutes.

In addition to aerobic exercise, there are strength training exercises such as weight lifting, yoga, pilates, callanetics. These all help to build and tone the mucles, which helps to keep you strong.

Yoga has the added benefit of the deep breathing, which helps to detox your cells of poisons accumulated there, it gets more oxygen to the cells so they can fight the free radicals, and it calms and centers the mind. Slowing down is a good way to maintain a good outlook in life, especially in this day where everything is rush and anxiety.
